Predictive A-F score vs hands-on vetting
Carrier Assure’s strength is a single A-F grade that predicts performance; FleetGen surfaces the same FMCSA signals plus a configurable Pass/Fail vetting engine you control.
Carrier Assure compares each carrier to similar carriers and outputs an A-F grade, recalculated daily from FMCSA performance data, related entities, tracking reliability, and community input. For a quick "is this carrier likely to perform" read, that is genuinely useful - and it is their signature feature.
FleetGen gives you the same underlying FMCSA signals - safety ratings, all five BASIC categories, inspection and crash history, and out-of-service rates against national averages - but lets you set your own Pass/Fail rules rather than trusting one vendor’s letter grade.
Honest note: Carrier Assure’s grade is calibrated for OTR, interstate full-truckload freight. Its own CEO has acknowledged it can unfairly penalize specialized carriers (cargo van, expedite, final mile) and new-authority or single-truck carriers that have thin inspection or tracking history. If you move a lot of that kind of freight, weigh the grade accordingly.
